New study has revealed that anxiety could cause irreversible damage to person’s semen and also cause his children’s mind to develop gradually. Researchers working on this have discovered that suffering from depression or anxiety as an adult, adolescent or even as a youngster could cause lasting genetic change in a man’s sperm.
The analysis that was conducted on mice revealed that the harm to sperm that is brought on by stress also contributes to offspring developing a blunted reaction to anxiety, which can be in fact a feature that is associated with several mental disorders. The researchers in the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine have stated that this is actually the first time any link has been really found between stress related ailments that are potentially being passed by a father to his children. Examples of anxiety include suddenly being transferred to a different cage, and being exposed to predator odour, any sort of sound or a foreign object in their cage.
Professor Bale said: ‘It didn’t matter if fathers were going through puberty or in adulthood when stressed until they mated. We have revealed here for the very first time that stress could create long-term changes to sperm which reprogram offspring”
