Stages of Menopause: There are 3 main stages of menopause–perimenopausal phase, menopause and postmenopausal stage. The 3 phases or the entire procedure of menopause usually takes about 15 decades or longer, based upon your age and family history.
- Perimenopause: Here is the first stage of menopause. During this period menstruation becomes irregular and intermittent spotting can occur because of fluctuation of hormonal levels in the body. Although the menstrual cycle becomes irregular it’s still possible to become pregnant. During perimenopause the ovum (eggs) are discharged irregularly but they’re older and with the capacity to receive fertilized. The period of perimenopause usually lasts 2 to 5 years, but some girls can remain in this stage of change for up to 15 decades. Changes or fluctuation of hormone levels in your body can cause some distress symptoms such as mood swings, irritability, hot flushes, and night sweats.
- Menopause: Here is actually the second phase of menopause and also the periods (menstruation) entirely cease by the time your reach that stage. Menopause usually occurs by 50 years in most girls but it can occur in a younger age (as early as 35) or later (as late as 60). You are thought to be in this stage if your period have been absent for at least 12 consecutive weeks. - Postmenopause: This is the final stage of menopause. The signs of menopause start to decrease in this time, as the body becomes used to the reduced levels of female hormones. Gradually you get free of hot flushes, headaches, night sweats and mood swings. But after this the new pair of problem start –increased risk of developing osteoporosis, obesity, heart disease, and urinary tract infections.

Living with Menopause: Many women dread menopause and feel anxious, stressed and even scared about going through menopause. However it is necessary to realise that this type of natural phase in the life of every woman, but it’s not bad if you accept it nicely and learn to deal with the changes.
